What "Hem" Are You Hoping to Touch?

Let's talk about the bleeding woman.
A woman who bled for 12 years non-stop, was an outcast and excluded from society because according to Leviticus law, she was considered unclean. Unable to go into town to shop, to enjoy family time or even feel the touch of a loved one, she led a life isolated from her community. Imagine 12 years of missing out on life as those around you continue in freedom.
At her wits end, she thought if I could just touch the hem of Jesus' garment, I will be healed. With a bold, courageous and risky faith, she pushed through the crowds and managed to touch his hem and immediately she was healed. Jesus knowing the power that just left Him, immediately asked "who touched me".
"Who touched you, Jesus, are you serious? You're in a crowd of people", asked His disciples. Jesus knew who touched Him, but He wanted to acknowledge her. He wanted her to know He saw her. He wanted a relationship with her.
In a way that only Jesus could, He looked at her and claimed her as His daughter (the only time recorded in the Bible that Jesus would call a woman that, by the way). In a moment He restored her dignity, her identity and her belonging. He called her His and restored her to a life she thought she would never have again.
Others touched Jesus, but it was her faith that saved her.
What does your faith look like? What "hem" are you just hoping to touch? What miracle do you need?
When we take a bold step in faith, believing that if we just touch His hem, He will answer our prayers according to His will.
So many of us forget that last part. According to His will.
Jesus doesn't guarantee miracles.
He says in this world you will have troubles.
Jesus doesn't say if you tithe in abundance, you will be blessed.
That's prosperity gospel.
Jesus doesn't say if you do this and that your prayers will be answered.
He says you are saved by your faith, not by works.
So, what is His will you ask?
His will is that we allow Him to sanctify us, to become more like Him, to share with others of His grace, to love Him with all our hearts, to not have idols above Him, to give thanks in all circumstances, to pray continuously and to rejoice always....in the yes's, no's and the not right now's.
Whatever you're clinging onto today, I pray that whatever His answer is, you will still say it is well with my soul.
As always, I'm here if you ever need prayer.
Love you friends!
Angela
