What is 14 days of intentional prayer could change the way you and your husband connect?

As our kids get older, we find ourselves in a new season. A season with quiet mornings, IG screenshot pictures our kids posted and date nights with our husbands.

We are no longer mothers rushing off to school drop off, scrambling to find the missing sock and signing permission slips as we wait at the red light.

Two different seasons. Same woman.

Maybe you find yourself in the latter. Raising babies. Juggling it all. Praying for just one hour alone.

I get it. I was there.

Friends, please know God knows your heart. He knows the season you’re in and He will honor the time you make for Him.

🤍Maybe it’s worship in the car after drop off.
🤍Maybe it’s the five minute devotional as you sneak into the bathroom for a minute of quiet.
🤍Maybe it’s on Sunday when kids are in Sunday School and you let go and praise Him with pure release and joy.
🤍Maybe it’s opening your Bible and just reading one chapter a day. Or one verse.
🤍 Maybe it’s just talking with Him, inviting Him into your day-to-day and praying all throughout your day.
🤍Maybe it’s instead of mindlessly scrolling on socials, we open our Bible or Bible App and dig into a devotional.

God will honor the time you take to build your relationship with Him. He’s your lifeline. He’s not expecting long, leisurely mornings. He just wants your heart. Your honest. Open. Heart. Focus on being present and partnering with The Lord in your day to day.

He’s walking this season with you, as your season changes, so will the time you’re able to spend in The Word.

Please note I’m not saying don’t make time for God because you’re busy, we should always make our relationship with The Lord our first priority, I’m offering grace for those in the season of raising babies. Sometimes the days are short, the demands are high and the energy is low. God will honor our best in this season.

Divorce. Job Loss. Illness. Insert the blank.

Any of those can happen when we least expect it, and they always seem to happen at the most inconvenient time.

Life has a funny way of interrupting our plans doesn’t it?

I know I’ve been there! There’s been many roads I’ve traveled that I never want to travel again. Some because of the steps I chose that led me there, and sometimes it’s just a path I found myself on, either way I may have never seen a smooth path again if I didn’t keep walking.

Friends, don’t stop walking. One step at a time. You may not see the curve up ahead, but God does and He’s walking the rough road with you, maybe even carrying you, every step of the way.

He’s a good God who loves you so much! He will make a way! He will provide that miracle. He will clear that storm. He will wipe away your tears. He will carry you when you fall.

Partner with him and allow Him to show up and show off as He shows you what only He can do.

🤍Maybe you need to hear this today, or maybe save it for a valley but friend,

The Lord hears your cries. | Psalm 34:17
He catches your tears | Psalm 56:8
He holds your hand and guides you | Psalm 139:10

You are never alone.

I know sometimes during our trials | sorrow, fear, anxiety, job loss, friend loss, divorce | it can feel like God is distant and silent.

Friend, He’s not. | Matt 28:20 | Jesus told His disciples, I am with you always | and He’s with us too. One step outside and you can see His beauty in all of creation.

If God cares enough to bring such beauty to a flower in the yard or a bird of the air, imagine how much care He has for His child.

When God feels silent, lean in.
When God feels distant, lean in.
When you feel alone, lean in.
When you are questioning everything, lean in.

Place scripture on your heart so in those valleys, you can be reminded of His promises.

The same God who kept His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (remember it took over 400 years for that covenant to be fulfilled), is the same God who David prays ‘hems him in’, also has His hands upon you too. | Psalm 139:5

God knows YOUR name. He loves you. He likes you, and He is working all things out for His good. | Romans 8:28

Trust in His promises. | Jeremiah 17:7-8

You are never alone.

I know sometimes during our trials | sorrow, fear, anxiety, job loss, friend loss, divorce | it can feel like God is distant and silent.

Friend, He’s not. | Matt 28:20 | Jesus told His disciples, I am with you always | and He’s with us too. One step outside and you can see His beauty in all of creation.

If God cares enough to bring such beauty to a flower in the yard or a bird of the air, imagine how much care He has for His child.

When God feels silent, lean in.
When God feels distant, lean in.
When you feel alone, lean in.
When you are questioning everything, lean in.

Place scripture on your heart so in those valleys, you can be reminded of His promises.

The same God who kept His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (remember it took over 400 years for that covenant to be fulfilled), is the same God who David prays ‘hems him in’, also has His hands upon you too. | Psalm 139:5

God knows YOUR name. He loves you. He likes you, and He is working all things out for His good. | Romans 8:28

Trust in His promises. | Jeremiah 17:7-8

Got Sin?

Psalm 51:1-2

What a beautiful example of David’s humbled heart as he prays for true forgiveness, and the cleansing of his sins, by offering true repentance and not excuses. A man who had just committed adultery, and ordered the unthinkable act to cover for that sin, now presents himself with humility and regret to a God who is so gracious to meet him where he’s at.

This is a prayer of a contrite sinner and represents a proper response to the Lord as we seek forgiveness. Not only did David repent, he prayed God would “create in (him) a pure heart….and a (renewed) steadfast spirit within (him) vs 10.

Sin has a funny way of taking ahold of our hearts, doesn’t it. Paul says in Romans 7:15 that “ I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” God understands this, and that’s why He offers such grace to forgive us of our repented sins. Sometimes that’s every. single. day. It’s an ongoing battle, but His love will never fail.

Friends, if you’re struggling with a sin in your life, let me encourage you that we serve a God who loves you and wants to be in community with you. That’s why He sent His son to conquer sin, to not be separated from you.

Sin separates us from God.

We CAN and ARE commanded to overcome sin (Romans 6), but how do we do that? Here are a few ways below!

• Decide in your heart not to sin | Daniel 1:8
• Confess and repent quickly of the sin(s) | 1 John 1:9
• Fill your mind with scripture | Psalm 119:11
• Meditate on The Word and pray proactively | Eph 6:18
• Put on the armor of God | Eph 6:10-18
• Remove temptations | Rom 13:14
• Replace sinful patterns with Godly ones | Colossians 3:8-10 • Stay in fellowship w others, Satan will isolate | 1 Cor 15:33
• Think eternal | Col 3:1-3
• Have fear of the Lord, our deepest motivation to overcome sin.
• God is watching and it matters | Proverbs 16:6

Your value isn’t in their approval, so where is it?

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.””
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

When we look around at those around us, turning the mirror on ourselves to determine our value, we go against what God says and His ultimate plan for our lives.

The world | those around you | family | friends | parents | bosses may all do | say things that can make us feel overlooked.

Maybe it’s because we put our worth | value in their hands.
Maybe it’s because we desire their acceptance | approval.
Maybe it’s because they are projecting their own brokenness, but

Maybe it’s because we haven’t silenced the world and tuned into The Creator of it.
Maybe it’s because we are afraid to boldly ask God to show us areas we need to repent.
Maybe it’s because our own brokenness is keeping us stuck.

The Lord knows our hearts.
The Lord knows your past hurts.
The Lord known your brokenness.
The Lord also knows His plan for you.

Allow Him to be the mirror in which you see yourself | not the world. He will heal those hurts | past rejections and He will replace them with truths that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14

For most of my life, I struggled with imposter syndrome. I constantly felt “not good enough,” with a playlist of shortcomings replaying in my head. It was exhausting. It held me back from opportunities and relationships. But more importantly, it wasn’t God’s plan for my life—and it isn’t His plan for yours either.

In Psalm 139, David reminds us that the God of Creation knows his name | and He knows yours too. Before we were even formed, He knew every day we would live. There is nowhere we can go that He isn’t already there. He lights up the dark, and His hand leads us and holds us.

When I finally began to grasp the truth that God KNOWS MY NAME, I started to walk in freedom | I began to believe I had a purpose. I then began to notice so many other women walking with hunched shoulders, insecurity in their eyes, and hearts longing to be embraced by friendship.

That’s when She is Known was born | a place where we can find friends to say, “Hey, me too, but it’s going to be okay!”.

Together, we are ELEVATED with purpose. So let’s walk in confidence, because our God knows our name!

In part it’s because my life is just busy, and another part is because I just want to do everything! I blame my creative brain.

But if I’m called to work as if I’m doing it for the Lord, then I just simply can’t do everything…in excellence. Sure I can multi-task | day planner the heck out of my days, but how many of those tasks | projects | relationships am I reaaalllyyy doing | serving well?

So then I have to ask myself…
How many plates am I spinning…in excellence?

If you’re like me and finding that your days are bleeding into weeks that have turned into another year gone by, then join me and let’s take all of our spinning plates and ask the good Lord which ones we need to wipe clean, and which plates we need to really focus.

We can do many things, but we can’t do many things well.

Good.

When we have no other option but to fully surrender…palms up | tear-filled face | nose in the ground …we now allow The Lord to move in a way that only He can. The way He longs to in our lives.

2 Corinthians 12: 9, “but he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness” - Jesus speaking.

We can’t do it. We try to do it. Our flesh wants to, our stubbornness says, yes, I got this, I don’t need help.

The amazing grace is Jesus knows this and then literally says, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness…meaning we are designed to be weak. We are designed to rely on a creator who is so strong and who’s yoke (burdens, troubles) are light.

Paul later in verse 10 says, for the sake of Christ, then I am CONTENT with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities. For when I AM WEAK, then I am strong because CHRIST MAKES US STRONG.

Will you allow Christ to be your strength, or will you continue to claw and scratch your way through life?

He’s patient but not pushy. Surrender it all. He’s waiting.

I love hummingbirds, so when one came to enjoy their morning breakfast with me, I smiled.

Then I started thinking of the Bible verses about how God provides for the birds of the air, and how much more valuable we are to Him.
Matt 6:26, Luke 12:24

Many of us wouldn’t harm an animal, bird or fellow human, but yet we will trash talk ourselves, beat ourselves up and hold ourself back from living a joy filled life.

Assumptions. Expectations. Shame. Guilt. Insecurities.

Looking at this sweet hummer this morning, I sat quietly as to not startle her.

Sometimes I wish I was that gentle with myself. How about you?

The enemy comes to steal your “fruit” (joy, peace, happiness, family, etc). We can sit back and watch him, giving him full permission, or we can claim, In Jesus Name, victory and power over his schemes!

The Lord said in this world we will have troubles, BUT that He has overcome!

Friends, sometimes life feels so hard that we don’t have any more energy to even try and fight anymore. It’s one thing after another…one steep hill after another…one fire put out only for three more to pop off!

So we just lay down and let the enemy wreck havoc in our lives because our fight has been fought and we feel we lost.

And we have.

We have lost the fight because we are trying to fight a war we were never meant to fight. Friends, the battle has already been won! Victory is ours! Declare that confidence over your life!! Jesus is fighting our battles and carrying us through it all! Surrender to His plan. Trust in His provisions and celebrate the truth that the battle belongs to the Lord!

Good times. Hard times. Lonely times. Sad times. Exhausted times.

He’s carrying you through it all! So stop allowing the enemy to knock you down because you have a mighty God who goes before you. So let him.

“But I tell you, love your enemies…”

Loving our enemies…yikes! This is such a tough one for most of us because come on mannnn that pain is real! Most of our “enemies” have hurt us in some way so to love them in spite of…are you sure God?!

Who better than to model how to do this but Jesus while hanging on the cross. He still cared for them and asked God to forgive them.

So how do we do this?

“…pray for those who persecute you,”

When I’ve been hurt by someone and that means either a boundary or a goodbye need to happen in|to the relationship, the best way I’ve guarded my heart from bitterness | resentfulness | anger taking root is to pray for them.

I remember that they are also God’s child and His children often hurt each other. Does that mean they are a true enemy, only God knows, but I can honor The Lord by honoring His commands.

Praying for them helps shifts my heart posture and also provides a way to grow closer to God, because He truly knows how it feels to have an enemy.

Love others sometimes means simply praying for them, and ourselves.

Have you ever had a business meeting with God?

I’ve received so much clarity in my “meetings” that it’s now a monthly practice I like to do.

1️⃣ I set a day and time for my meeting. If I’m feeling silly, I’ll even ask God if He’s available at that date. 🤷🏼‍♀️

2️⃣ I compile an “agenda” of items I’m seeking clarity, direction or help on.

3️⃣ I pray and invite God into our time together, and ask the Holy Spirit to speak loud and clear so there’s no confusion.

4️⃣ I write down everything I feel God’s placing on my heart. I also keep my Bible handy to reference any verses I feel come up.

5️⃣ I then specifically pray over the things I’ve written down if I need more clarity. Sometimes I feel instant peace and confirmation over what I feel was placed on my heart, and sometimes I want to confirm His plan against my own thoughts.

Whenever I’ve had this meeting, I walk away feeling closer to God and have more trust in who He says He is. 🤍
